Liparis liliifolia [Lily Leaved Twayblade]
The beauty of Lily Leaved Twayblade [Liparis liliifolia] orchid certainly should be seen in person, unusual in form to say the least. Looking almost tropical and something your not expecting to see in a Pa. forest but a Pennsylvania native it is, and thank goodness! Adams County, Pa. 6-9-24. Notice the unusual greenish hue with touch purple at the edge [above] compared to the usual purple coloration seen below.
The unusual and beautiful Lilly Leaved Twayblade orchid [Liparis liliifolia]. Adams County, Pa. 6-9-24. This is by far the largest group of these flowers that I have ever seen, with 9 plants in bloom.

The Strange and beautiful flower of Lily leaved Twayblade orchid [Liparis liliifolia]. North East, Pa. 6-9-22. This year only one of the 4 to 6 plants had bloomed and the deer ate all the flowers but one, and it was barely hanging on, so I propped it up with a stick-I guess its better than no flowers at all!
